Key findings
In the ECRI report of 2012, the authorities was recommended to intensify their actions to combat islamophobia. Still, Muslims in Sweden are to a high degree exposed to prejudice and negative attitudes. ECRI sharply recommends that the authorities, without restricting anyone's editorial freedom, call upon the media to debate the representation they give of Islam and Muslim, as well as their responsibility in this, to avoid maintenance of prejudice.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
The working methods for the preparation of the reports involve documentary analyses, a visit to the country concerned, and then a confidential dialogue with the national authorities.
Sample details and representativeness
ECRI’s reports are analyses based on a great deal of information gathered from a wide variety of sources, such as data from national authorities and monitoring bodies, government bills and academic research.
